Many thanks to all at Hatfield House for welcoming the IRTA for an enjoyable day of tennis — the IRTA were victorious by 4 matches to 1.
Tony Penny got the visitors off to a great start with a resounding victory, playing beautifully. Stuart Kerr followed with another win, which was tighter than its final scoreline suggests.
Richard Ramjane withstood some significant early pressure from Andy Goldsmith to prevail. Ramjane then stayed on court to stand in for an unwell Mark Heffernan, where he defeated Tim Harper, volleying with confidence and style.
Grattan MacGiffin fought back well from a set down, but then had to play a truncated third set, with his opponent dominating from the server’s end, and he narrowly lost the match.
