The IRTA was delighted to take part in this year’s Brigands Peripatetic tournament,
being represented by Rupert Derham and Rustom Manecksha. Many thanks to Hardwick House for
welcoming us. Alas, the IRTA pair did not progress beyond the group stage this year.
Thank you for joining us for another very enjoyable and competitively fought Brigands
Peripatetic annual tournament last Saturday. As ever, a thoroughly charming bunch of people
who played with vim and vigour, and occasional flashes of talent (the only exception being the
Brigands vs LRTA match, where the Brigands, i.e., Oliver and I, sadly displayed none of the
aforementioned!).
The tournament was ably won for the second consecutive year by the LRTA, represented this
time by the talented pairing of Izzy Candy and Evelyn Fleming. Very well done to them
both. They will now have to fight over who displays the lovely silver cup on their
mantelpiece! Also very well done to the semi-finalists of the LOUTS (last year the winners
when representing the LRTA) and the Old Malvernians, and the other finalists — the
RAF.
Thank you again Lesley for your excellent marking and for giving us the whole of your
Saturday to be with us.
I was remiss during the prize giving of not thanking our very generous hosts — the
Friends of Hardwick House — without whom we would not be able to hold this event. We
were all most impressed with the court improvements at the club, confirming it as one of the
best courts on which to play our great game.
